We are so happy that Xaaza blog has featured the engagement of Shaliz and Domenic.
We first met Shaliz and Domenic a couple months ago. Since they both live and work in New York they only had a couple days while they were in Southern California to meet with and reserve the services of their wedding vendors. So right after meeting with them they reserved our services and the next day we photographed their engagement session. The feel that they wanted for their engagement session was city with a touch of grandeur. In all of our photography packages we offer up to two locations with about two hours of photography coverage for an engagement session. Not only is this great for our clients to get photos of themselves but it also helps us to connect with our client and get them comfortable in front of a camera, its a good way to see what angles work best and what to expect for your actual wedding day. As we always tell people the more that we connect, the more comfortable you will feel while taking photos, the better your photos will turn out on your wedding day. Thats when we get to capture the true moments, when your guard is down and you are being your true self. So, we suggested to them that for a city vibe we go to Little Italy there are great shops and cool architecture and for the grandeur we go to Balboa Park, with tall buildings etched in stone there is no more beautiful park than Balboa Park.
While we were taking their engagement photos we were curious as to how they met and how Domenic proposed to Shaliz, we always love hearing a good proposal story….
“We were closely approaching our 3-year mark”, Shaliz told us. “We went to Italy in the Fall. I was convinced that Domenic wasn’t going to propose because we were a week into the trip and had been to so many beautiful and romantic places- Venice, Murano, Rome, Positano…. And no proposal! I figured that if he planned on doing it, he would’ve done it on the first day or two. We were on our last night in Positano, having the last reservation of the night for dinner at the Hotel Vittoria Excelsior overlooking the sea. We walked back through the gardens, close to midnight and no one else was there. He surprised me when I least expected it! He had been carrying the ring in a cloth in his pocket for the last 7 weeks, waiting for the perfect moment. Right at that moment when I said yes, a nearby restaurant started blasting the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love”.”
We are looking forward to photographing their wedding and working with Crown Weddings, we will of course share their wedding photos with you but in the meantime we hope you enjoy their engagement photos.
